North Carolina man receives 24-month sentence for firearm possession

Robert Hamlett, a 49-year-old resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm. The sentencing took place in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Court documents and statements revealed that Hamlett was found with a stolen firearm during a traffic stop on the interstate in Martinsburg. Due to previous felony drug and firearms convictions, Hamlett is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Following his prison term, Hamlett will be subject to three years of supervised release.
