Former USPS worker sentenced for package theft

A former employee of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has been sentenced in federal court for stealing packages he was supposed to deliver. William J. Paige, 35, from Duxbury, received a sentence of two years' probation and was ordered to pay $5,119 in restitution to the victims.

Paige pleaded guilty in September 2024 to three counts of theft of mail matter by a Postal Service employee. He worked as a mail carrier with USPS in Whitinsville and admitted to stealing collector's coins and other items from packages between January and February 2022. The stolen items were valued at over $5,000.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Matthew Modafferi, Special Agent in Charge of the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General, Northeast Area Field Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen M. Noto from the Worcester Branch Office prosecuted the case.
