As the tenure of Andres Chong-Qui Torres as Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships (OFBNP) draws to a close, he extends gratitude for the support received during his service. Serving under President Biden, Secretary Raimondo, and Deputy Secretary Graves, Torres reflects on achievements in aiding underserved communities.

"Our mission to provide resources, training, and technical assistance to small businesses, faith leaders, and community-based organizations has transformed lives," he stated. The OFBNP's efforts have empowered communities by strengthening small businesses and non-profit organizations through exports, grants, and resources.

The office maintained active roundtables across 14 states in 2024 while amplifying key resources nationwide. Collaborations addressed critical issues such as climate change and minority business development. "These roundtables have amplified our reach," said Torres.

High-impact summits were organized to support the Biden-Harris Administration's priorities. The inaugural Youth Summit attracted hundreds in-person and thousands online. The National Youth Summit 2.0 continued this legacy with over 300 youth participants at the Department of Commerce.

Torres highlighted other significant gatherings like the National Faith Leaders’ Summit and National Disability Leadership Summit which addressed unique challenges by connecting leaders with necessary resources.

The historic National Muslim American Leaders Convening and National Jewish American Leaders Convening facilitated meaningful conversations amid community distress. These events contributed to launching the National Strategy to Combat Antisemitism and Islamophobia.

Torres expressed appreciation for his team’s dedication: "Their hard work...has been the driving force behind our success." His tenure concludes on January 20, 2025. "It has been a privilege to serve," he remarked.

With his departure imminent due to the Presidential transition, Torres is optimistic about OFBNP's future growth under new leadership.
