Kyle Weiland, an Orange County resident, has been sentenced to 75 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine and selling illegal pills on the dark web. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Cathy Seibel. Weiland had previously pled guilty in September 2024 to charges related to his illegal activities.
Danielle R. Sassoon, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, stated, "In 2019, Kyle Weiland was convicted for selling illegal pills online. After serving his prison term and while still on supervised release, he returned to his illegal drug business." She added that Weiland manufactured dangerous pills containing methamphetamine and sold them on the dark web across the United States. "This sentence sends a clear message that selling illegal pills does not pay and will be met with serious prison sentences," Sassoon said.
Weiland admitted to manufacturing and distributing various pills marketed as methamphetamine, amphetamine, oxycodone, benzodiazepines, or their analogs. He agreed to forfeit assets valued at $2,093,887.72, including cash amounting to $21,341.00; luxury cars such as a 2008 Maserati GranTurismo, a 2013 Maserati GranTurismo, and a 2019 McLaren 570S; along with various cryptocurrencies.
Previously convicted in 2019 for similar offenses and sentenced to six months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, Weiland committed these recent offenses while still under supervision.
Apart from the prison term, Weiland will serve an additional three years of supervised release. The investigation was praised by U.S. Attorney Sassoon for its thoroughness conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
The case is being handled by the Office’s White Plains Division with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shaun E. Werbelow and Justin L. Brooke leading the prosecution.
