During the call, Secretary Rubio expressed admiration for the courage displayed by Venezuelans facing repression from Nicolás Maduro and his associates. "The Secretary lauded the Venezuelan people’s courage in the face of repression perpetrated by Nicolás Maduro and his cronies," stated Spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
Rubio also reiterated the United States' commitment to supporting democracy in Venezuela. He emphasized the need for "the restoration of democracy in Venezuela as well as the unconditional and immediate release of all political prisoners."
