Trump: U.S. will be ‘the world capital of artificial intelligence and crypto’

In a speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on January 23, President Donald Trump outlined his vision for the United States to lead global innovation in cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence. He emphasized the country's role in shaping the future of both industries.

At the forum, Trump said that cryptocurrency is a key component of his administration's economic strategy. He linked crypto growth to advancements in U.S. energy and manufacturing infrastructure. "Unlocking the liquid gold under our feet will pave the way for rapid approvals of new energy infrastructure. This will make the United States not only energy independent but also the hub for AI and crypto innovation."

On January 23, Trump signed an executive order to promote cryptocurrency development in the U.S., including plans to establish a national digital asset stockpile. The order aims to safeguard blockchain users, protect the right to self-custody digital assets, and foster the global use of dollar-backed stablecoins. David Sacks was appointed as the administration’s crypto and AI czar to lead these initiatives, according to CNBC.

According to AP News, during a keynote at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville on July 27, 2024, Trump pledged to make the U.S. the "crypto capital of the planet." He proposed creating a bitcoin "strategic reserve" using government-held cryptocurrency and announced plans to replace Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler with a crypto-friendly advisory council.

Trump, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance, currently serves as the 47th president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a successful real estate developer and author of 14 bestsellers, including The Art of the Deal.
