Roger B. Handberg, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida
Tampa, Florida – The United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg has announced the indictment of Kodi Glenn Simon and Kateri Ann Simon, both aged 30 and hailing from Ohio, on charges of involuntary manslaughter. If found guilty, they could each face up to eight years in federal prison.
The indictment alleges that in 2022, Kodi and Kateri Simon unlawfully killed a person identified as Victim 1 at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. The charge specifies that the act was committed without malice.
It is important to note that an indictment serves as a formal accusation that the defendants have violated federal criminal law. Both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service conducted the investigation into this case. The prosecution will be handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Abigail K. King and Michael C. Sinacore.
