A Louisiana man has been sentenced to nearly two decades in prison for his involvement in sex trafficking a runaway child. Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery announced that Isiah Lee Campbell Jr., 39, from Shreveport, pleaded guilty on July 26, 2024, to charges of transporting a child for criminal sexual activity and possession of a firearm as a felon.
Senior U.S. District Judge Sim Lake sentenced Campbell to 235 months in federal prison, followed by ten years of supervised release. The case involved Campbell driving a 16-year-old victim from Louisiana to Houston over several trips in 2019 to engage in commercial sex with adult men. He also advertised the victim on a prostitution website.
On June 6, 2019, law enforcement stopped Campbell in Harris County while he was driving a reported stolen vehicle. A handgun was found under his seat, and the victim was identified as a runaway child from Louisiana. She reported that Campbell had threatened her life to force her into commercial sex work and had taken all the money she earned. Additionally, she disclosed that Campbell sexually assaulted her multiple times.
Campbell is set to remain in custody until his transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility is arranged.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Precinct 4 Harris County Constable’s Office with support from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Bauman prosecuted the case.
