The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has expressed its support for Scott Bessent following his confirmation as Secretary of the Treasury. The NFIB, known for advocating on behalf of small businesses, acknowledged Bessent's focus on preventing a significant tax increase that could impact these enterprises.
During his confirmation hearing, Bessent highlighted the potential negative effects if the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction were to expire. He stated, "I think it would be devastating… especially for small businesses."
Brad Close, President of NFIB, extended congratulations to Bessent, emphasizing the importance of addressing small business needs. "Congratulations to Scott Bessent on his confirmation as Treasury Secretary," said Close. "Small Businesses are half of our economy, and we appreciate his focus on the needs of Main Street, especially the importance of stopping the massive tax hike on small businesses by making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent. We look forward to working with Secretary Bessent, the White House and Congress to provide permanent tax relief for more than 30 million small businesses."
