The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has expressed support for recent executive orders by President Trump concerning artificial intelligence (AI) and digital financial technologies. Gary Shapiro, CEO and Vice Chair of CTA, stated that these actions align with the organization's long-standing belief that the United States should lead in emerging technologies.
Shapiro remarked, "President Trump’s executive orders this week on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital financial technologies reflect what we’ve said for years: that America must lead the world on these and other vital emerging technologies."
He also highlighted the CTA's eagerness to collaborate with Michael Kratsios, nominated as Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and David Sacks, the President’s Special Advisor for AI & Crypto. Shapiro added, "We look forward to working with Michael Kratsios...and with David Sacks."
Furthermore, Shapiro emphasized the importance of a comprehensive national AI policy. "We also look forward to working with Congress on a comprehensive and balanced national AI policy and regulatory framework," he noted.
The CTA is North America's largest technology trade association, representing innovators from startups to global brands. The association owns CES, a major tech event showcasing breakthrough technologies. CES 2026 is scheduled for January 6-9 in Las Vegas.
