Clifford D. Johnson, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana
Andre Anderson-Dawson, a 41-year-old resident of Michigan City, Indiana, has been sentenced to 58 months in prison. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty following Anderson-Dawson's guilty plea for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. This announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay.
In addition to the prison term, Anderson-Dawson will also serve three years of supervised release. According to court documents, he violated a protective order in December 2019 while armed with a stolen 9-millimeter firearm. As a previously convicted felon, he was prohibited from possessing firearms. Despite pleading guilty to the federal charge in October 2023, Anderson-Dawson allegedly engaged in behavior that led to three state court felony domestic battery charges while awaiting sentencing.
The investigation into this case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with assistance from the Michigan City Police Department and the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Molly E. Donnelly prosecuted the case.
