Boone County man sentenced for possession of child pornography

William S. Thompson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia

Trenton Alan Cremeans, a 24-year-old resident of Seth, Boone County, has been sentenced to three years and six months in prison. This sentence will be followed by 20 years of supervised release due to his possession of prepubescent child pornography. As part of his sentencing, Cremeans is also required to register as a sex offender.

Court documents reveal that on January 17, 2024, Cremeans had child pornography on his cell phone. Alongside this were materials found in his Snapchat accounts, amounting to approximately 373 images and 31 videos. These included explicit depictions of prepubescent minors, with some showing sadistic and masochistic abuse. Cremeans admitted to downloading these files online and using specific search terms targeting child pornography involving infants and toddlers.

United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentencing and acknowledged the efforts of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in the case. The sentence was imposed by Senior United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr., with Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Rada Herrald prosecuting.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates resources from federal, state, and local levels to locate offenders who exploit children online and rescue victims.
