Alexander M.M. Uballez U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of New Mexico
A federal grand jury has indicted Tyler Miles Leveque, an Albuquerque resident, for making threats against then-President Donald J. Trump. The indictment is based on allegations that Leveque posted multiple threatening messages on social media between January 2 and 4, 2025. These posts expressed intent to harm the President-Elect and others at a rally planned for January 19 in Washington D.C.
The criminal complaint details that Leveque's posts included statements such as "you and your rich friends are dead no threat a promise" and referenced potential violence at the event. During an interview with agents from the U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation on January 6, 2025, Leveque admitted to making these posts and disclosed his recent purchase of a firearm. Investigators confirmed that he had indeed bought a gun from a local business.
Leveque is currently in custody awaiting trial, which has yet to be scheduled. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez, Ron Emmot of the U.S. Secret Service Albuquerque Resident Office, and Raul Bujanda of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service with assistance from the FBI Albuquerque Field Office and the Albuquerque Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sammy Hurtado is prosecuting.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
