An Arkansas man has been sentenced to 222 months in federal prison for drug and firearms offenses. Darius Kyri Walker, aged 43, from Hot Springs, was sentenced by Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey at the United States District Court in Hot Springs.
Court records reveal that on July 23, 2023, Walker was stopped by officers from the Hot Springs Police Department for a traffic violation. Officers recognized him as being on active felony parole under the supervision of the Arkansas Department of Correction. During the stop, officers discovered Walker had concealed an object in his waistband. He was found to be carrying 61.27 grams of pure methamphetamine, five firearms, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Walker pleaded guilty on June 24, 2024, to charges of possessing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Special Investigations Division of the Hot Springs Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan Achorn prosecuted the case.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation aimed at identifying and dismantling high-level criminal organizations threatening the United States through a coordinated multi-agency approach.
