Brett D. Schaefer joins AEI as senior fellow focusing on international organizations

Brett D. Schaefer, a recognized authority on the United Nations and international organizations, has joined the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) as a senior fellow. Prior to this role, Schaefer was the Jay Kingham Senior Research Fellow in International Regulatory Affairs at the Heritage Foundation. His previous positions include membership on the United Nations Committee on Contributions and serving as an expert on the UN Task Force for the United States Institute of Peace. He also worked as an assistant for International Criminal Court policy at the US Department of Defense.

Schaefer has contributed extensively to public policy literature, authoring or coauthoring numerous papers, book chapters, and commentaries featured in publications such as National Review and National Security Journal. He edited "ConUNdrum: The Limits of the United Nations and the Search for Alternatives" in 2009. Alongside AEI Senior Fellow Danielle Pletka, he authored a series advocating for reforms within the UN. Known for his speaking engagements, Schaefer has testified before both houses of Congress and provided commentary on major news networks including Fox News, CNN, and CNBC.
