U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Roma International Bridge cargo facility have seized cocaine valued at $1.6 million, hidden within a tractor trailer. The incident occurred on January 31 when officers encountered a tractor trailer entering from Mexico with a shipment of soft drinks.

Port Director Andres Guerra stated, "Our CBP officers continue to remain vigilant in the cargo environment and their effective utilization of officer experience and technological tools and resources yielded the seizure of a significant amount of narcotics."

The inspection involved canines and non-intrusive inspection equipment, leading to the discovery of 50 packages of alleged cocaine weighing 120.15 pounds (54.5 kg). The estimated street value is $1,604,262.

Following the discovery, CBP's Office of Field Operations handed over the truck, narcotics, and driver to the Roma Police Department for arrest and further investigation.

CBP is recognized as America's largest law enforcement organization with over 65,000 personnel committed to safeguarding the nation's borders across land, air, and sea while facilitating lawful travel and trade.
