Four Birmingham men indicted over multiple carjackings

A federal grand jury has indicted four men from Birmingham in connection with three separate carjacking incidents that took place in Jefferson County. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Carlton Peeples.

The individuals charged include Dearrius Dontrell Pace, 30, who faces charges of carjacking and kidnapping related to an incident on July 16, 2024. Charles Avery Pruitt, 22, is charged with carjacking and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence for an event on July 10, 2024. Additionally, Kyone D’Mias Harris and Brandon Taylor Ezell, both aged 24, are charged with carjacking and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence stemming from an October 2024 incident.

The FBI conducted investigations into each case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys John G. Camp, Daniel S. McBrayer, and Darius C. Greene are responsible for prosecuting these cases.

It is important to note that an indictment contains only charges; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
