Daniel Lacy, a 42-year-old resident of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for his role in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. The sentence was handed down by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., on January 30, 2025. Following his release from prison, Lacy will serve a five-year term of supervised release.
The conspiracy involved the distribution of over 100 grams of fentanyl analogue and took place between February 2022 and February 2023. Emily Clayton and Taft Burtton were also implicated in the operation alongside Lacy. On February 15, 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at the residence shared by Clayton and Lacy, uncovering various drug paraphernalia and distribution materials. During this operation, Clayton contacted Burtton to deliver fentanyl; upon arrival with 100 grams of the substance, Burtton was arrested.
A subsequent Crimestoppers tip led law enforcement back to Clayton's residence on February 24, 2023. There they seized an additional 40 grams of fentanyl along with a scale and $2,080 in cash.
Burtton received a similar sentence of 120 months on January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Clayton was sentenced to an imprisonment term of 84 months on January 30, 2025.
The investigation into this case was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
