Treasury announces nominations for assistant secretaries for financial institutions and markets

Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent announced President Trump's intention to nominate Luke Pettit and Jason De Sena Trennert for roles at the United States Department of the Treasury.

"Luke and Jason will be critical to implementing President Trump’s agenda to drive progress for the American people by revitalizing the economy, lowering prices by cutting burdensome regulation, and strengthening the financial system," stated Secretary Bessent.

Luke Pettit is set to become Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions. He has served as a senior policy adviser to U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty and was an economist for the Senate Banking Committee. His previous roles include positions at Bridgewater Associates and the Federal Reserve's Division of Monetary Affairs. Pettit is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania.

Jason De Sena Trennert will take on the role of Assistant Secretary for Financial Markets. With 34 years of experience on Wall Street, Trennert is recognized as a leading figure in financial markets and economic policy. He co-founded Strategas Research Partners 18 years ago, which is currently ranked as Wall Street’s top macroeconomic research firm. Notably, he was among the first strategists to foresee President Trump's appeal as a presidential candidate in 2011 and predicted his victory in 2016 along with the subsequent bull market. Trennert has authored three books on investing.
