Guatemalan man faces federal charges for child pornography offenses

Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma

A Guatemalan national, Gustavo Gordillo, has been charged with transportation, distribution, and possession of child pornography. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester following the unsealing of a federal complaint.

The case stems from an investigation initiated in July 2020 when the Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) received a cyber tip regarding files containing child sexual abuse material uploaded to a Google Photos account. The affidavit supporting the criminal complaint identifies Gordillo as the individual who uploaded these files while residing in Oklahoma City. Further investigations revealed that Gordillo communicated with a child living out of state and allegedly exchanged child sexual abuse material with this minor.

In December 2024, law enforcement traced their investigation to a residence in the Oklahoma City metro area linked to Gordillo. Subsequently, on January 27, 2025, he was charged by complaint and arrested two days later by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and OCPD.

Public records indicate that Gordillo entered the United States on a temporary visa which has since expired.

If convicted on these charges, Gordillo could face up to sixty years in federal prison. However, it is important to note that these charges are allegations at this stage, and Gordillo is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany Edgmon and results from collaborative efforts between HSI and OCPD. For more details, reference can be made to public filings.
