A Guatemalan national has admitted guilt in a U.S. District Court in Portland for entering the United States illegally after being previously removed. Jorge Martinez-Urizar, 50, was found by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a records check in November 2024 to have been deported from the country three times, with the most recent removal occurring in July 2005.

Court documents reveal that Martinez-Urizar had not submitted any applications or petitions to lawfully reenter or remain in the United States. His last removal followed a 70-month prison sentence served in Oregon due to a 1999 conviction for second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Martinez-Urizar now faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine that could reach $250,000. The case was investigated by ICE.
