York County man faces federal indictment over firearms offenses

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced that Andie Hartley, a 38-year-old resident of Felton, Pennsylvania, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 5, 2025. The charges relate to firearms offenses.

Acting U.S. Attorney John Gurganus stated that the indictment accuses Hartley of possessing a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber pistol on April 9, 2024, in York County, Pennsylvania. At the time, Hartley was reportedly a felon prohibited from possessing firearms. Additionally, the indictment claims Hartley had in his possession a .22 H&R Victor revolver with an obliterated serial number.

The investigation into these allegations was conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Pennsylvania State Police. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Monroe is responsible for prosecuting this case.

If convicted on the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, Hartley faces up to 15 years imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and fines reaching $250,000. For possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number, he could face up to five years imprisonment and similar financial penalties.

It is important to note that indictments are merely accusations at this stage; all individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
