Hudson County man receives decade-long sentence for child abuse material possession

A Hudson County man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material. Jonathan Lattif, aged 46, from Jersey City, New Jersey, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi after previously pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.

Court documents reveal that on March 18, 2022, Lattif was found with over 500 video files and one photograph depicting the sexual abuse of minors on his mobile device. Some of these videos involved prepubescent children. This case marks a repeat offense for Lattif, who has a prior state conviction for similar charges.

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Cecchi imposed a 10-year supervised release period following Lattif's incarceration.

Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna announced the sentencing and credited special agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Investigations and Customs and Border Protection Officers from the Port of New York/Newark for their roles in investigating the case. The investigation was led under Special Agent in Charge Ricky J. Patel in Newark and Acting Port Director Jeffrey Greene.

The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Fatime Meka Cano from the Economic Crimes Unit in Newark.
