Mexican national faces charges for illegal reentry into the United States

Duane A. Evans, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Feliciano Solano-Olea, a 42-year-old Mexican national, has been indicted for illegal reentry into the United States after deportation. The indictment was issued on February 6, 2025, following Solano-Olea's return to the U.S. on December 10, 2024, after his previous deportation on July 20, 2011.

If convicted of this offense under Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a), Solano-Olea could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, up to one year of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

U.S. Attorney Evans emphasized that the indictment is only a charge and that guilt must be established beyond a reasonable doubt.

Evans commended the efforts of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Enforcement Removal Operations for their investigation into the matter. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman from the General Crimes Unit is leading the prosecution.
