The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent small business advocacy group, has expressed its support for the Prove It Act of 2025. This legislation aims to enhance the scrutiny government agencies must apply when assessing the impact of regulations on small businesses and seeks to increase small business participation in the regulatory process.
Dylan Rosnick, Principal of Federal Government Relations at NFIB, stated, "The Prove It Act will address the disproportionate impact that government regulations have on small businesses." He added that the legislation would close existing loopholes in the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA) and empower small businesses to engage more actively in rulemaking and provide feedback. Rosnick emphasized NFIB's strong support for the act and urged lawmakers to reduce regulatory burdens affecting small businesses nationwide.
NFIB members frequently cite "unreasonable government regulations" as a significant challenge. The Prove It Act targets gaps in the RFA, which is crucial for small enterprises. An analysis by the NFIB Small Business Legal Center highlights administrative agencies' non-compliance with RFA standards and suggests ways Congress can strengthen it as a check against uniform agency rulemaking.
