Fort Dodge woman pleads guilty to meth distribution charges

A Fort Dodge resident, Alesha Rasmussen, 34, has pled guilty to methamphetamine distribution charges in federal court. The plea was entered on February 10, 2025, in Sioux City.

During the hearing, Rasmussen admitted to distributing over 28 grams of pure methamphetamine on July 10, 2024. This transaction involved an individual cooperating with law enforcement. Previously, Rasmussen was convicted in 2011 for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine in the Northern District of Iowa.

Sentencing will be determined by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after a presentence report is completed. Until then, Rasmussen remains in custody under the United States Marshal's supervision. She could face up to 30 years in prison, a $2 million fine, and at least six years of supervised release post-imprisonment.
