Fort Dodge man pleads guilty to fentanyl distribution charges

Braleigh Schossow, a 24-year-old resident of Fort Dodge, Iowa, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for his role in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. The plea was made on February 11, 2025, in Sioux City.

Evidence presented at the hearing indicated that from December 2020 to February 2024, Schossow and other conspirators distributed over 22 pounds of fentanyl across Fort Dodge and additional locations.

Schossow's sentencing will be determined by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand following the preparation of a presentence report. Until then, he remains under the custody of the United States Marshals Service. Schossow is facing significant penalties including a mandatory minimum prison term of ten years and could receive up to life imprisonment. Additionally, he may be fined up to $10 million and will face at least five years of supervised release post-incarceration.
