Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents have seized approximately 139 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at about $127,000, in separate incidents in Arizona's western desert.
On February 10, Casa Grande Station motorcycle unit agents responded to a mobile surveillance alert near the Sierra Blanca Mountains. They discovered three abandoned backpacks containing nearly 106 pounds of meth but found no individuals in the vicinity.
Two days earlier, Ajo Station agents reacted to an integrated fixed tower alert regarding a suspected border crosser just over a mile north of the U.S.-Mexico border. They arrested a male illegal alien and found a large backpack nearby with roughly 34 pounds of meth. The individual is now in custody pending drug smuggling charges.
"Tucson Sector remains vigilant and steadfast in its mission to ensure addictive, deadly drugs stay out of our nation’s neighborhoods," stated Tucson Sector officials.
