Kelvin Hunt, a 48-year-old resident of Rochester, New York, has pleaded guilty to charges of producing child pornography and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. This plea was announced by U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross and took place before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa. The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years and could result in life imprisonment.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani detailed that Hunt had previously been convicted of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree in March 1995 and served a sentence of two to six years in prison. On February 2, 2024, Hunt entered the home of a 14-year-old victim in Rochester and forcibly raped her. He then took explicit photos with her cell phone before moving her to another location where he assaulted her again.
Law enforcement apprehended Hunt on February 4, 2024, and conducted a search of his hotel room where they found a loaded semi-automatic handgun and approximately 71 grams of heroin.
The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Rochester Police Department led by Chief David Smith, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Todd Baxter, the Federal Bureau of Investigation directed by Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, and the United States Marshals Service under Marshal Charles Salina.
Hunt's sentencing is set for June 12, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., overseen by Judge Siragusa.
