A New Hampshire man has been sentenced in Portland, Maine, for making false statements to purchase a firearm. Chief U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker sentenced Brandon Pinard, 33, to time served of approximately nine months, followed by three years of supervised release. Pinard entered a guilty plea on November 19, 2024.

Court records reveal that in May 2024, the Seabrook Police Department in New Hampshire received a firearms denial notice indicating that Pinard was denied the purchase of a long gun in Bath, Maine. When attempting to buy the Daniel Defense DDM4 assault rifle, Pinard used a Dover address and answered "No" to a question on the ATF Form 4473 regarding previous felony convictions or military charges leading to court-martial. At the time of this attempted purchase, Pinard was prohibited from possessing firearms due to a 2013 felony sex offense conviction in Massachusetts and had been registered as a sex offender in Seabrook since moving from Dover in November 2022.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with assistance from the Seabrook Police Department.
