Benz Coleman, a 34-year-old resident of Colonie, New York, has been sentenced to 90 months in prison for drug trafficking offenses involving fentanyl and cocaine. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Frank A. Tarentino III, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New York Division.
Coleman admitted guilt to possessing over 3,000 fentanyl pills and more than 13 grams of cocaine on January 31, 2024, with the intent to distribute these substances. He also confessed to selling over 2,400 fentanyl pills between November 1, 2023, and January 31, 2024.
In addition to the prison sentence handed down by Senior United States District Judge Lawrence E. Kahn, Coleman will serve a five-year term of supervised release following his incarceration.
The investigation leading to Coleman's conviction was conducted by the DEA in collaboration with the Colonie Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Belliss was responsible for prosecuting the case.
