Clifford D. Johnson, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana
Hamed A. Martin, a 42-year-old resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has been sentenced to 84 months in prison by United States District Court Chief Judge Holly Brady. This decision follows Martin's guilty plea for distributing methamphetamine, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay.
In addition to the prison term, Martin will also serve four years of supervised release. The case documents reveal that Martin was involved in the distribution of methamphetamine on multiple occasions in July 2022. A search warrant executed at his residence in August 2022 led to the discovery of a firearm and evidence related to drug distribution.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Fort Wayne Safe Streets Gang Task Force, which includes participation from the FBI, Indiana State Police, Allen County Sheriff’s Department, and Fort Wayne Police Department. The Drug Enforcement Administration and its North Central Laboratory also assisted in the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Stacey R. Speith prosecuted the case.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation aimed at dismantling high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a coordinated multi-agency approach involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, this case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence by fostering trust within communities and supporting community-based violence prevention initiatives. The Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, to enhance PSN efforts based on core principles such as building community trust and setting strategic enforcement priorities.
