Mescalero man faces federal assault charges for injuring woman

A Mescalero man has been charged with federal assault after allegedly inflicting severe injuries on a woman. Myron Edward Blake, Jr., aged 39 and an enrolled member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, is accused of causing serious bodily harm to Jane Doe, who suffered significant head trauma and other injuries reportedly from blunt objects.

Blake is currently held in custody while awaiting trial, which has yet to be scheduled. If found guilty, he could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez announced the charges against Blake. The Bureau of Indian Affairs conducted the investigation into the incident, and the United States Attorney’s Office will handle the prosecution.
