Jason Rapert, the founder and president of the National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL), is a man on a mission. A former Arkansas state senator, he has dedicated his career to advocating for faith-based governance, supporting Israel, and speaking out against what he sees as a growing assault on religious and conservative values in America.
A longtime ally of former Governor Mike Huckabee, Rapert holds him in high regard. "Governor Huckabee is a strong leader who understands the importance of faith in governance,” he says. He characterizes Huckabee’s leadership as “guided by biblical principles,” which Rapert says he admires. Huckabee has been nominated by President Trump to become the next U.S. Ambassador to Israel.
Through the NACL, Rapert works to bring Christian lawmakers together to influence public policy. "We are in a battle for the soul of this nation," he says. "If Christians do not take a stand, we will lose the moral foundation that has made America great." The NACL seeks to unite legislators who believe in biblical values and promote faith-based policies at all levels of government.
Rapert is also vocal about the recent surge of anti-Israel protests on college campuses. "What we are seeing on campuses today is deeply troubling–the hostility toward Israel is rooted in misinformation and a rejection of Judeo-Christian principles that have long defined our nation," he says. He argues that the protests reflect a cultural shift that threatens religious freedom and America’s historical support for Israel.
For Rapert, the relationship between Israel and America is deeply intertwined. "Israel is the only true democracy in the Middle East, and its freedom is essential for stability in the region. As Americans, we have a moral and biblical obligation to stand with Israel." He sees the alliance as a strategic necessity, but also a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. "God’s promise to Israel is clear, and nations that bless Israel will be blessed in return."
Rapert believes that the defense of Israel is directly tied to the preservation of Christian values in America. "If we abandon Israel, we are turning our backs on the very principles that built this nation," he says. He calls on Christian lawmakers and citizens alike to support the Jewish state.
"We must be bold in our faith and resolute in our defense of truth,” he says, and adds, “the future of America and the future of Israel depend on it."
