Bryan County man pleads guilty to assault with intent to commit murder

Jason Edward Lewis, a 48-year-old resident of Kenefic, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of assault with intent to commit murder in Indian Country. The plea was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

According to the superseding indictment, Lewis committed the assault on or about July 10, 2024. The incident took place in Bryan County within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation.

The investigation into this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and Bryan County Sheriff's Office.

U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Lewis's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report has been ordered, and Lewis will remain in custody under the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
