Kansas woman convicted in husband's murder at Fort Riley

A Kansas woman has been convicted by a federal jury for the murder of her husband, a U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Riley. Margaret E. Shafe, 31, was found guilty of second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of Greg Shafe in February 2024 at their residence on the military base.

The conviction carries a potential life sentence. The final sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge, who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant factors.
