Madisonville man sentenced for conspiracy involving fentanyl distribution

Alvarez Joseph Cyprian, a 23-year-old resident of Madisonville, Louisiana, was sentenced on February 11, 2025. He had previously pleaded guilty to charges related to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl. This sentencing follows his admission of guilt for violating Title 21 of the United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(C), and 846.

Cyprian received a sentence of five years probation along with a $200 mandatory special assessment fee. The court documents reveal that Cyprian sold fentanyl pills to an undercover agent on September 8, 2023. The transaction took place in Covington where Cyprian exchanged 200 fentanyl pills for $550.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Rachal Cassagne from the Narcotics Unit.
