Mexican national charged with illegal reentry after prior deportations

Roger B. Handberg, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida

Jacksonville, Florida – A criminal complaint has been filed against Jose Luis Carrasco-Aldape, a 37-year-old Mexican national, for illegal reentry into the United States after previous deportations. Acting United States Attorney Sara C. Sweeney announced the charges on February 18, 2025. If found guilty, Carrasco-Aldape could face up to two years in federal prison.

Court documents reveal that Carrasco-Aldape was previously removed from the U.S. on March 22, 2004, and again on October 12, 2017. On February 13, 2025, he was discovered back in the country by law enforcement officials in Clay County without permission from either the Attorney General or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to apply for readmission.

It is important to note that a complaint is simply a formal accusation of one or more violations of federal criminal law. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The investigation involves Homeland Security Investigations, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Frein is prosecuting the case.
