Boston man sentenced to over ten years for bank robbery

Joshua S. Levy, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts

A Boston man has been sentenced in federal court for bank robbery and escape charges. Kim Daley, 55, received a sentence of 125 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton also imposed a five-year concurrent sentence for the escape conviction.

In April 2024, Daley pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery and one count of escape from custody after being indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2022.

Daley's criminal activities date back to July 2017 when he was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison for previous bank robbery convictions. On May 9, 2022, while serving his sentence at a Boston Residential Reentry Center (RRC), Daley left the facility without permission and was classified as an escapee.

On June 20, 2022, Daley robbed a TD Bank in Cambridge by passing a note demanding money and leaving with $560. Surveillance footage captured him during the incident. He was arrested approximately 40 minutes later with the stolen cash on him.

The announcement came from United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Boston Division; and Christine Elow, Chief of Police in Cambridge. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Jacobus prosecuted the case.
