U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Austin, Texas, have apprehended Carlos Daniel Teran-Aguilar, a Venezuelan national wanted in Chile for narcotics and weapons trafficking. The arrest took place on January 26 during routine operations.

Teran-Aguilar, 18, is identified as a member of the Tren de Aragua gang. He is currently held in ICE custody following his arrest. Miguel Vergara, Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removals Operations in San Antonio, emphasized the agency's commitment to public safety: "We will continue prioritizing public safety as targets are identified and arrested." He also praised the efforts of the officers involved: "Our brave officers are out on the streets everyday removing the most egregious criminal aliens."

Previously, U.S. Customs and Border Protection had encountered Teran-Aguilar at the Port of Entry in Calexico, California, on November 1, 2024. At that time, he was paroled into the United States.

The public is encouraged to report any crimes or suspicious activities to ICE through their Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or via an online tip form.
