A serial bank robber has been sentenced to over 10 years in federal prison for committing three bank robberies while on supervised release. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Chad Meacham.
Taurick Demon Walker, aged 43, faced charges via a criminal complaint in August 2023 and was indicted the following month. He entered a guilty plea to bank robbery in October 2024. On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Jane J. Boyle sentenced him to 105 months for the bank robbery plus an additional 24 months for violating his supervised release conditions, which prohibited committing any felonies. This results in a total sentence of 129 months in federal prison.
Court records indicate that Mr. Walker had previously been convicted of bank robbery in March 2018 and served six years in federal prison before being released in March 2023.
On August 10, 2023, just five months after his release, Mr. Walker robbed a Regions Bank in Irving by passing a note demanding money from a teller and then fleeing with cash.
He committed two more robberies eight days later on August 18 at a Truist Bank in Dallas and a Wells Fargo in Garland. In both instances, he presented tellers with notes reading “Bank Robbery 20,000.”
Investigators connected Mr. Walker to these crimes using FLOCK license plate readers. A family member identified him through a cowboy hat seen during one of the robberies.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Dallas Field Office with help from police departments in Dallas, Garland, and Irving. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Withers handled the prosecution.
