Raymond Davese, a 38-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to eight years in prison for carjacking a valet driver. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Davese admitted guilt on November 13, 2024, before D.C. Superior Court Judge Heidi M. Pasichow, pleading to charges of carjacking and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The incident occurred on June 7, 2024. According to evidence presented by the government, Davese attacked a valet driver who had just parked an SUV at a parking garage located at 221 Tingey Street Southeast. He assaulted the victim from behind using a taser and subsequently took control of the vehicle after subduing her. Shortly after driving away in the stolen SUV, Davese crashed it and was apprehended by officers from the Metropolitan Police Department.
Since his arrest on June 7, 2024, Davese has remained in custody.
