U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced plans to reopen the Delaney Hall Facility in Newark, New Jersey. The reopening follows an agreement with the facility's owner to reestablish it as a federal immigration processing and detention center. The facility will have a capacity of 1,000 beds.

Acting ICE Director Caleb Vitello stated, "This detention center is the first to open under the new administration." He emphasized that "the location near an international airport streamlines logistics, and helps facilitate the timely processing of individuals in our custody as we pursue President Trump’s mandate to arrest, detain and remove illegal aliens from our communities.”

The reopening of Delaney Hall will increase ICE's detention capacity in the Northeast. This move aims to enhance the agency's ability to manage growing enforcement and removal operations in the region.
