NAHB announces winners for 2024 Best in American Living Awards

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced the winners of the 2024 Best in American Living Awards (BALA). The announcement took place during the NAHB International Builders’ Show held in Las Vegas. SMEG sponsored this year's awards.

The 2024 BALA recognized achievements not only in home design but also in multifamily housing, offsite construction, and remodeling. With over 600 gold and silver winners, these professionals have set new standards for homes and communities both nationally and internationally.

“BALA expanded its portfolio of honors this year, as reflected by the impressive projects, firms and individuals honored across the housing industry at this year’s event,” stated Angela Visbeen from Visbeen Architects in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who served as NAHB’s 2024 Judging Chair. “We continue to celebrate all the myriad ways today’s housing professionals redefine design excellence in all aspects of home building.”

Highlighted winners include:

- **Home of the Year**: Midtown Modern Tudor located in Memphis, Tennessee. The architect/designer was Shapiro & Company Architects with Ken Garland Company, Inc. as builder. Parker Design Studio handled interior design while Lensman Photography provided photography.

- **Best Single-Family Community**: Galt Commons Garden Hamlet situated in Kennesaw, Georgia. Miller Architecture served as both architect/designer and land planner with WLM Contracting, Inc. as builder and Sanctuary Companies as developer. Tim Buchman Architectural and Fine Art Photography captured images.

- **Best Multifamily Built-for-Sale/Condominium**: New Talley Station based in Decatur, Georgia. Lessard Design was responsible for architecture/design with Toll Brothers acting as both builder and developer.

- **Best in Log Homes**: The Colantonio Residence located in Haliburton, Ontario designed by True North Log & Timber Homes with photography by Robert Nelson Photography.

- **Best Entire Home Remodel Over $750,000**: Winterthur found in Sandy Springs, Georgia built by Vincent Longo Custom Builders Builder.

Other notable recognitions included Mike Pressgrove from PDQ Construction named Remodeler of the Year based out of Topeka, Kansas; Mill Creek Residential acknowledged as Best Multifamily Development Firm from Boca Raton, Florida; Prometheus Real Estate Group awarded Best Property Management Firm operating out of San Mateo, California.
