Clinton J. Johnson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma
U.S. District Judge Raul M. Arias-Marxuach has sentenced Melik Deshawn Davis to 76 months in prison for two counts of robbery in Indian Country. Following his imprisonment, Davis will undergo three years of supervised release and is required to pay $2,500 in restitution.
The incident occurred in September 2023 when Tulsa Police responded to a robbery at an auto repair shop. Employees reported being held at gunpoint, pistol-whipped, and robbed by Davis. Surveillance footage captured the vehicle used during the crime as it fled the scene.
Davis, a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, admitted to the robbery when questioned by law enforcement officials. He will remain in custody until he is transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The FBI and Tulsa Police Department conducted the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Dunn prosecuted the case.
This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021, focusing on fostering community trust, supporting violence prevention organizations, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
