Two upstate men receive federal sentences for drug-related crimes

Rashaad Green and Shaquille Barber have been sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in drug trafficking, money laundering, and firearms offenses. Green, 31, from Union, will serve 15 years, while Barber, 30, from Moore, has been sentenced to seven years.

Investigations revealed that between 2020 and 2024, the two men frequently traveled to California and other western states to procure marijuana for distribution in South Carolina. They engaged in financial transactions using cash obtained from drug sales. Their financial records indicated significant sums of money passing through their accounts. During this period, both were also found with firearms related to their drug activities.

United States District Judge Donald C. Coggins sentenced Green to a term of 180 months imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release. In addition to his sentence, Green faces the forfeiture of jewelry, firearms, cash, and a $500,000 forfeiture judgment.

Barber received an 84-month prison sentence followed by five years of supervised release. The court ordered the forfeiture of jewelry including a Rolex watch, a 2019 Audi Q8 vehicle, a firearm along with cash assets. A $250,000 forfeiture judgment was also imposed on Barber.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration along with Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office and Union County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carrie Fisher Sherard is handling the prosecution.
