Gabriel Charron, a 53-year-old resident of Milton, Vermont, has been sentenced to 132 months in prison followed by 20 years of supervised release. This sentence is for his involvement in the attempted online enticement of a minor.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Daniel Hanlon and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Charron had previously pleaded guilty to exchanging sexually explicit messages with individuals he believed were a mother and her 11-year-old daughter. His intent was to entice the child into engaging in sexual acts with him. On March 4, 2023, Charron traveled from Vermont to a hotel in Albany County, New York, intending to meet the child for sexual purposes. He was arrested shortly after arriving at the location.
Upon his release from prison, Charron will be required to register as a sex offender.
The case was investigated by FBI Albany and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Belliss under Project Safe Childhood.
