U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Anzalduas International Bridge have apprehended Javier Antonio Calvillo, a U.S. citizen from Pharr, Texas. Calvillo was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for sexual assault.

"CBP screens all travelers entering the United States. We are committed to bringing in those individuals with outstanding arrest warrants to face their criminal charges," stated Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of the Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas.

On March 2, 2025, Calvillo, aged 32, arrived from Mexico at the Anzalduas International Bridge. A CBP officer identified him as a potential match to an arrest warrant and secured him for further investigation. In secondary inspection, biometric verification confirmed his identity and the active arrest warrant issued by the Mission Police Department. Calvillo faces charges of sexual assault, classified as a second-degree felony in Texas.

A police officer from Mission took custody of Calvillo and transported him to the city jail in Mission.

It is important to note that criminal charges are merely allegations at this stage; defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
