A Mexican citizen, Oscar Daniel Ramirez Gonzalez, has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for exporting firearm parts from the United States into Mexico. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.

Ramirez Gonzalez, aged 55, pleaded guilty on December 12, 2024. Following his sentence, he is expected to face removal proceedings as he is not a U.S. citizen.

The incident occurred on November 9, 2024, when Ramirez Gonzalez attempted to leave the United States through the Pharr Port of Entry into Mexico. During a secondary inspection of his vehicle, authorities discovered a firearm upper receiver, lower receiver, four bottles of gun powder, and several thousand rounds of ammunition cartridges in various calibers.

Ramirez Gonzalez did not have a license to export these items from the United States. He remains in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility yet to be determined.

The investigation was conducted by Customs and Border Protection with Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda McColgan prosecuting the case.
