Cedrick Dion Tyron Griffin, a 26-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for fentanyl trafficking. Griffin was found guilty of possessing with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of the drug.
The Fairmont Police Department's investigation into a shooting incident led them to Griffin. A search of his Morgantown apartment, vehicle, and a hotel room registered under his name uncovered $28,000 in cash, 144 grams of fentanyl, over 1,100 grams of methamphetamine, and a firearm. Griffin's criminal record includes charges such as obstructing/assault on a police officer, attempted murder, wanton endangerment, malicious wounding, drug trafficking, and witness intimidation.
Following his prison term, Griffin will undergo four years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Flower.
The investigation was conducted by the Three Rivers Drug Task Force with funding from HIDTA. Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh oversaw the proceedings.
